At age 27, Tyrone Williams founded Cold Chillin’ Records, a label which became the home to artists Including Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shante, DJ Marley Marl, MC Shan, and the late Mr. Magic, Biz Markie and Granddaddy I.U. Right On! Magazine was the first national publication to put rap music on the map with the popular title magazine’s special issues and plenty of pin-ups. Ty discusses his legendary career, the artists who are still his friends today, and which artist gave him the idea to call the label Cold Chillin’. Hint: MC Shan.
