Justice for Jam Master Jay

Nearly 20 years after the murder of Run-DMC’s beloved DJ,  Jason Mizell, aka Jam Master Jay, two suspects have finally been taken into custody.  According to TMZ, the details of the previously unsolved mystery are rapidly unfolding:

Federal prosecutors are indicting Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. for Mizell’s murder on the evening of October 30, 2002 in Mizell’s Queens, NY recording studio.  The famous DJ was shot once in the head and another victim was shot in the leg.  Bystanders and visitors had little to say at the time that the horrific murder took place, but tenacious law enforcement personnel were determined to get justice for the victim.

News of the arrests was a relief to the hip hop community who revered the celebrity who previously owned JMJ Records, former home of Onyx and 50 Cent.  Mizell’s son, TJ Mizell, has carried on his father’s legacy in the competitive DJ world and has starred on WE tv’s “Growing Up Hip Hop.”

The affable, popular artist was one of the most famous DJ’s in  hip hop history. Jam Master Jay was only 37 at the time of his death.
