Morris Chestnut joined The DL Hughley Show recently and shared his thoughts on John Singleton, who just passed away on April 29, 2019. The cult classic film Boyz in the Hood, which earned Singleton an Oscar nod for Best Director, created a new genre of black cinema. Chestnut paid homage to the director for helping to launch his career and introducing audiences
to actors like Ice Cube, Nia Long and Cuba Gooding Jr. who are still relevant in Hollywood. The film was released in 1991, and in recent years, the cast and creative team celebrated its 25th year anniversary.
