EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW! STREET BUD’S GOT IT!

When Jermaine Dupri calls, we answer.  Dupri, who first made his way into the pages of Right On! magazine as a teenage breakdancer,  has had a stellar career since his early years. He went on to discover Kris Kross, form So So Def Records, introduce us to such artists as Bow Wow, DaBrat, Xscape and others.  And the well-known writer/producer has songs that will live in music history.  He wanted us to have some one-on-one time with his latest protege, 14-year-old Street Bud, the winner of Lifetime’s series “The Rap Game,” and we were all for it!

 

Q; How long have you known Jermaine Dupri?

STREET BUD: About two years now.

Q; How long have you been interested in music?

STREET BUD: When I was four, I started liking music and I was always dancing around.  I liked Gucci Mane and  Waka Flocka and Trey Songz.  Now I like   2 Chainz and…me!

Q: I’ve never seen a hairstyle quite like yours. Who keeps it up for you?

STREET BUD: I have a hairstylist. I don’t want dye my hair too much because I don’t want my hair to break off too much.

Q: Are your friends happy for your recent success?

STREET BUD: Most of my main friends are really happy for me.  My friends are bigger than me so when I go to the mall, they are my security guards (laughs).

 

Q: What do you like to do at the mall?

STREET BUD: Personally, I like shopping, going to the food court and taking pictures.

Q:  What’s going on for you career-wise right now?

 

STREET BUD; I’ve been going to state to state doing shows, mainly with people my age. I’ve also got a lot of people who want features.

 

Q: Do you see yourself as a kid or as an adult?

STREET BUD: I’m more of a kid; I have plenty of time to be an adult.

Q: Do you go to public school?

STREET BUD: I’m home schooled.  I like science but I hate math.  I’ve been schooled for about two years.

 

Q: Do you have any celebrity friends?

 

STREET BUD: Me, myself, and I, Street and Bud.

 

 

Q:  Do you have a favorite hobby?

STREET BUD: I like to skateboard.

Q:  What do you like to eat?

STREET BUD: I I don’t eat meat anymore,  only seafood.  My mom stopped eating meat and I watched her eat fish, so I did it. We like pizza, though.

Q: Do you prefer performing live or  working in the studio?

STREET BUD: That’s a good one.  I like performing, but I like the studio, too

 

Q: What are your feelings about social media?

STREET BUD: I like social media, but I’m not addicted to it.
