(Gospel) Stephanie Summers Reveals Her Journey Walk

By Tameka J

Q: Who is Stephanie Summers?

A: I’ve often asked myself that exact same question, and the answer is always the same: I’m a girl from Colorado who loves the Lord and loves to sing. God has endowed me with this gift of music, and that’s what I’m going to do—sing!! We all have our various callings, and I’m going to do what I’m supposed to do within the body of Christ!

Q: Stephanie, we are all on a journey with the Lord. Can you tell us about your journey?

A: Our walks (just like our callings) can be so vastly different, yet similar in some respects. I’ve been a single mother for many years, I’ve made sacrifices and I’ve battled illnesses and other life trials that many of us have faced. It’s important to remember in our journey that not only is God there, but He didn’t make us islands. We are extensions of His grace and mercy. People will stand by you, and some will not. My walk has always been rooted in God’s promises for my life. Like the scripture said, “If I make my bed in hell, He is there.” It wasn’t that long ago that He healed me and set me free from a grave illness. He keeps opening doors I didn’t know about, and He’s given me exceptional children and friends who love me. I’m blessed, and God continues to blow my mind.

Q: Who inspires you when you’re singing?

A: My parents would be my initial inspiration. They were music, and that made me love music and helped make me the artist I am today. Rev. James Moore is another major inspiration to me. Singing and working with him was not only a blessing, but he showed me the meaning of keeping your word. He always did what he promised, and he never faltered from that. Dorinda Clark-Cole is my example of artistry consistency. She is always that artist who doesn’t switch up but always shows her stamina in music and ministry. God is my ultimate inspiration because without Him giving me this gift, who or what would I be? He has blessed me, and I’ll forever sing His praises!!

Q: Are you currently working on new projects?

A: I am currently working on rebranding and amplifying me, across the board. I wanna do new music, imaging, fashion, and other goals. I’ve been looking into other areas of the industry like theater acting and other stuff I’m interested in. Look out this year for some new “Stephanie” everything that my publicist and team are cooking up!!

Q. What advice would you give to the next artist following in your footsteps?

A. Trust God and be yourself!! Also, make sure you have a team you can trust that can do a little everything you may need. I’ve learned over the years that even in Gospel music, there will be pitfalls. Get a seasoned manager and ensure your band fits your style and will always have your back. God will show you so much and protect you when you are not even aware of danger! Do not sacrifice your artistic talent for the cares of the industry; stay true to yourself and God!
