On Thursday September 28, 2023 Superhero DJ Jon Quick will be producing his 13th Annual Heroines of Excellence Awards Party at High Bar Rooftop in Times Square. He will be honoring some of NYC’s most talented and successful women of color while fundraising for the legendary Dance Theater of Harlem for the second time at this event.
“One thing you know about me is that I’m all about shining light on those who deserve it. Some of these sisters have been achieving success for years but have never been properly recognized. We also have some honorees that are on the rise in their respective careers. I’m here to celebrate brilliance of the phenomenal women of color on all levels” states DJ Jon Quick, the event’s founder.
Honorees include the legendary Queen of Right On! Magazine, Cynthia Horner and The Honorable Judge Shawndya Simpson Esq. Nigerian vocalist and actress Lisa Yaro will be receiving the “International Heroine Award”. Other honorees include Captivate Marketing CEO Yvonne McNair, Yo MTV Raps co-producer Michelle Kenner, author & physician Dr. Sarah Washington MD, NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime” co-star Danielle Truitt, NYC basketball all time leading scorer/Founder of Steam Champs School Niesha Butler, BRND Marketing Foundet Kim J. Ford, journalist and theologist Rev. Nicole Duncan-Smith, Coexist Gaming CEO Jaye Watts, Director of Artistry at IT Cosmetics Cynde Watson and NY1 reporter/journalist Ayana Harry.
The event will be hosted by Shelley Wade of 94.7 The Block and music will be handled by DJ Jon Quick and rising turntable star DJ Rei. Passed treats provided by celebrity chef Janelle Pitterson. There will also be a live musical performance from the 90s R&B supergroup Allure.
