The ongoing YNW Melly case ending in a mistrial after three days of deadlock where the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on on the verdict.
YNW Melly faced two counts of first-degree murder for Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr., where Melly was considered to be close friends with the victims. He was arrested on February 2019 and was faced with life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or the death penalty if he was convicted.
The rapper was seen in court seemingly praying, smiling throughout the case, and randomly blowing a kiss.
The defense lawyers focused on the fact that the murder weapon was never found and that he wouldn’t have a motive to begin with, as the victims were friends with him.
Prosecutors confirmed that the cased will be retried at a future date.
