Willi Smith “Apologies” to Chris Rock through a YouTube video

During the infamous 2022 Oscars, actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face after he had made a joke about his wife’s hairdo which led to extreme scrutiny and backlash on Smith’s part and led many to siding with Rock, as they did not believe the harmless joke warranted a physical assault. Now, Smith uploaded a video on YouTube recently, , saying “Chris I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk” and also apologized to “Rock’s mother Rose and brother Tony, once a good friend of his”. Whether or not this apology was genuine is left to the fans to which many lean on the side of dismay just simply looking at the comments on his video and the fact that it took Smith four months to formulate an apology instead of immediately after he had slapped him, or the following day.
