It has been six long years since Beyoncé had released her “Lemonade” studio album and fans are ecstatic and are loving it compared to many of its critics. The album was recorded during the pandemic over the course of three years and has a 16 song track list which features many other notable artists such as her husband Jay-Z, Drake, Skrillex and more. “Break My Soul” is the first track along with being the lead single of the entire album and even managed to hit No.7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in July. Fans have found “Break My Soul” to be nostalgic and reminiscent of a 90s vibe and might even manage to hit No.1 following the release of “Renaissance”.
Beyoncé’s main inspiration for “Renaissance” was to be able to “dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world” and “allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving” she says. Her intention was to “create a safe place, a place without judgment, a place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking, a place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration”, which makes a lot of sense considering how the album was created during the pandemic, an uncertain time for everything.
