Revolutionary Dallas rapper Bobby Sessions won his first career Grammy Award® in 2021 for Best Rap Song as co-writer of Megan Thee Stallion & Beyonce’s landmark RIAA platinum “Savage Remix” which topped charts worldwide. Bobby & Meg have continued their winning ways on the new track “I’m A King,” the lead single from the recent Coming 2 America Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
Bobby’s three-page character-driven story about Black Panther, King of Wakanda is part of the final three-issue “Intergalactic Empire” saga of the Black Panther Marvel Comics series, from the acclaimed creative team that features writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Daniel Acuna.
Three of Def Jam’s rising stars – Saint Bodhi, Bobby Sessions, and Kaash Paige – are each contributing character-driven short stories in Black Panther issues #23, #24, and #25 respectively. Last month’s Black Panther #23 saw buzzing South-Central-LA singer/songwriter Saint Bodhi share her take on Storm for an emotional story grounded in tragedy and acceptance. In April’s Black Panther finale issue #25, “Toxic R&B” breakout star Paige forges a tale about Wakandan Princess Shuri and the power of knowledge.
